Sudden and Suspicious death at South End Boston - Wednesday 17th December 1888
On Wednesday evening a dinner was provided at the Ship Inn, London Road to celebrate the entrance of the first vessel into Boston Dock.The chair was taken by Mr Councillor Clarke and the vice-chair by Mr John Bedford, the company including Councillor Harrison, Councillor Meggitt, Messrs R .Wright, P Tranter, A. Everrit, G Shaw and others. The toast of “Success to the Dock “was ably proposed by Mr H A Everritt.
Meanwhile across the river just a ferryman’s ride away an altogether different class of Bostonians were revelling in the New Park Inn at South End. The crowd were boisterous and it being market day much alcohol had been consumed.
All was well until a sudden and suspicious death occurred on the premises!

The Worshipful the Mayor and Mayoress of Boston, Councillor Richard Austin and Councillor Alison Austin, would like to extend an invitation to you to attend a ‘Victorian Murder Mystery Evening’ set in Blackfriars, Boston, in aid of the Mayor’s Charities, Butterfly Hospice and Boston Woods Trust.
